was a large male with the ultimate Dobe temperament;  ICARUS was an awesome Schutzhund dog, extremely tough but at the same time loved nearly everyone.  I could count on one hand the number of people he did not like--and each time his judgment proved to be correct!  I had him put down at the age of 11  1/2 (see longevity certificate)because he slipped on an unfamilar tile floor and ruptured a disc in his back.  At that age he was running around like a pup and had hardly any gray.  Everyone thought he was 5 or 6 years old.  He was truly a remarkable dog.  (see Longevity Certificate)

Above and Right:  Icarus with my daughter, Lauren, who was 9 at the time.  I was telling him to "gib laut!"
Icarus training in protection for his Schutzhund title;  here he works with a helper on basic biting.  He was trained beyond a Sch II.
This is Icarus at just about 9 months of age very early in his training.  He had an exceptional temperament, the perfect blend of social and protective.  He was also an extroadinary tracking dog and was also part of SAR when we lived in Virginia. He was a slow maturing dog and as such was able to maintain his youthful appearance and stamina for a very long time.  At full development he weighed about 102 lbs and stood 29" at the withers, solid and square.
